The Croatian Institute for Health Insurance ("HZZO"), with its headquarters in Zagreb, Margaretska 3, was founded to implement basic health insurance at the time, and to perform other tasks under the Health Insurance Act of 1993 and the Health Care Act of 1993 .
The rights and obligations and responsibilities of HZZO are determined by the Law on Compulsory Health Insurance ("Official Gazette" no. 80/13 and 137/13), which has been in force since January 1, 2009, and the Statute of HZZO.
The HZZO statute was adopted by the HZZO Administrative Council on January 27, 2009, in accordance with the then valid Law on Compulsory Health Insurance, and the Government of the Republic of Croatia confirmed it on February 5, 2009.
